SPACERS

What are Spacers?

Spacers are multi-point dividers… they divide distances into equally sized segments.
They are Open-Source Hardware – designed to be modifiable, repairable, adaptable… useful.

They started out as a string-spacing tool for luthiers, but turned out to be useful for a whole lot more besides… a general-purpose measuring and marking tool.

If (say) you needed to find the center-point of a curved or irregularly surfaced object, regular calipers or rulers are pretty difficult. Spacers can be used as bisecting calipers to make this easy

They are designed to be a constructor set.

All the parts are available individually, so if you need more pointers you can just keep adding more pointers. Where possible the parts are available straight off the industrial supply-chain. The schematics for the custom parts are also available should you get stuck. The designs are Open-Source Hardware.

A magnificent (and quite rare) 10-point spacer. Normally they are 6… but some people need to go up to 11
Each set comes with spare parts, and an SSD card with schematics, and because you never know when you might need an SSD card. Or schematics.

Interactive model.
You can open/close them with the red arrow… the pointers can be dragged up and down, and if you click the red fasteners they “lock”, to keep the pins in place.

More glorious photos and such.

Availability

There are about 20 units left of the first production run… these come with an early-bird discount… because although I have been using them for quite some time now, they have not been fully tested in the wild yet – other people are going to come back with other ideas. The street finds its own uses for things.

If there any major improvements turn up in the feedback I’ll send you updates with this first lot for free.

Available Here

Otherwise drop me a line and I’ll let you know when the 2nd production run is available. If I get enough interest I think I’ll put them on kickstarter.
